An excerpt from my story –
Judy realized that job opportunities for women had changed drastically over three generations. She obtained a position in a formerly all men’s field, but it was not smooth sailing. She had to prove herself even more than the men, working late, agreeing to impromptu business trips, and client lunches.
“I’m doing great”, she told her family and friends, “ challenging work and making good money.”
Then she met Peter, fell in love, got married, and quickly had a baby. Suddenly, her life changed drastically, and Judy bemoaned to her mother,
“I’m going crazy trying to juggle daycare, doctor’s appointments, the now crowded apartment, and the demands at work. The baby got pink eye and had to stay home, the washing machine broke, and the car had to go into the shop. My husband is helpfulbut he can’t miss a lot of work either. I’m no longer able to give the job or family my all. I’m completely stressed out.”
